Bridging Nature and Life Meetings take place for the fourth time “Artificial intelligence is driving personal preferences”

Kastamonu Entegre hosted the talk on “Trends in Interior Architecture and Artificial Intelligence” during the fourth session of Bridging Nature and Life Meetings. The session involving Yeşim Kozanlı, interior architect and founder of Yeşim Kozanlı Architecture & Interior Design, and Mertcan Özen, founder of Hipicon, provided insight into the role of artificial intelligence in architecture as well as its impact on personal preferences and new trends in interior architecture.

A global brand of the wood-based panel industry, Kastamonu Entegre entertained Yeşim Kozanlı, founder of Yeşim Kozanlı Architecture & Interior Design, and Mertcan Özen, founder of Hipicon, in the fourth session of Bridging Nature and Life Meetings held at KEAS Concept Studio. The talk joined by architects, interior architects and architecture students addressed “Trends and Artificial Intelligence in Interior Architecture”.

Intertwined interior and exterior space relationship

In the session that started by asking “What sets trends?”, Yeşim Kozanlı highlighted the importance of following the global trends in interior architecture and said, “It is impossible not to have the crises we go through reflected in the design. Due to the pandemic, the interior and exterior space relationship has been intertwined for the last 3 to 4 years. Interior spaces are imitating outer spaces, while outer spaces arouse the feeling stirred by interior spaces. We see that energizing colors come into prominence against depressing elements like pandemic and war. On the other hand, the concepts, such as sustainability and environmental friendliness, had a direct impact on our awareness of materials, leading to the emergence of new products and trends.”

Technology automatically creates a movement in trends

Stating that technology automatically created a movement towards setting trends and making them available to the end user, Mertcan Özen said, “The trends in internal architecture have become widespread very fast and easily thanks to social media. This induced the perception that trends must be followed, creating a marketing algorithm that handles the demand of the end user. So, home decorations that are replaced every five years have started to be replaced quarterly. Now, all marketing strategies make use of social media algorithm.”

ChatGPT-oriented next-generation customer assistants to help with choices

Remarking that artificial intelligence accelerates the design processes and offers tailored solutions, Yeşim Kozanlı said that this technology especially helps with the process of analyzing complex problems and developing sustainable, innovative and user-oriented designs, and added, “While it is inevitable that we include artificial intelligence in our lives, we must never lose human scale and emotion.”

Mert Özen stated that we would soon be using virtual assistants for our personal preferences and pointed out that artificial intelligence programs such as ChatGPT have completely changed e-commerce behaviors and that the companies and countries making the best use of this will lead the competition in the coming period.

The Bridging Nature and Life Meetings will continue to bring together architects, interior designers and industry professionals at the KEAS Concept Studio under different topics.
