One product. Two colors: an interior with character

Today, a home is increasingly seen not as a set of universal solutions but as an extension of personality. Experts from Kastamonu Russia discuss how manufacturers can respond to this demand and why customization is becoming a new tool for organizing space.

If the 20th century was the era of mass production, the 21st century is becoming the age of mass personalization. We are accustomed to personalizing clothing, cars, and gadgets. Now, this principle is becoming part of interior design. Elements like color, texture, details, and unexpected combinations are taking center stage—everything that contributes to creating an interior with character. For designers, this signifies an important shift: instead of choosing from ready-made solutions, there are more opportunities to create unique combinations tailored to specific projects.

One of the most powerful tools of personalization is color: it transforms the mood and perception of a space. This idea serves as the foundation for the "Kastamonu Customization" project—double-sided interior panels that allow two decors to be combined in one product, enabling countless individual combinations. Two colors on different sides of a single panel can complement each other or work in contrast, creating harmony or adding energy to an interior. Similar shades deepen the palette, while contrasting ones emphasize furniture geometry and enhance spatial dynamics. The second color can remain hidden inside a cabinet or shelving unit, revealed only during use. This approach adds layers to the interior and makes furniture part of a personal visual code.

This is why "Kastamonu Customization" is much more than just the ability to select two colors: it's an additional design tool. Using color, one can create contrast and rhythm, highlight accents, or zone a space. To showcase the diverse interpretations of this concept, Kastamonu invited experts, including Timofey Prokhnin—a showbiz star and owner of a restoration workshop—and interior designers Anna Erman, Sara Mikhaylova, and Tatyana Bezverkhaya. They created over ten decor combinations, ranging from calm to bold and experimental, blending matte and glossy surfaces like Evosoft and Evogloss, various colors, and wood textures.

Personalization is important not only for professionals. Homeowners also gain the ability to choose colors and textures that reflect their taste and lifestyle. After all, the perfect interior is not just a beautiful image but a space where we live daily and feel truly ourselves.

The double-sided decorative panels of "Kastamonu Customization" inspire creativity, provide freedom to combine and experiment, and turn color into a tool for creating an interior with character.
